What are examples of what committing to quality jobs looks like?
Your quality jobs commitment might mirror your organization or team’s existing mission or goals, and it doesn’t need to be a new priority. Here are some examples of statements you could include on your application to demonstrate commitment:
- Over the next three years, we at [education/training provider ABC] commit to training 500 people with criminal records to prepare them for jobs that meet the quality standards in our community.
- We at [private employer XYZ] commit to do the following: Evaluate the pay, working conditions, and other elements of our frontline jobs against JFF’s Quality Jobs Framework and then take action to improve at least two aspects of those jobs by 2029.
- We at [intermediary GHI] commit to elevating the issue of job quality in our publications, events, and member engagements at least five specific times in the next two years.
What are examples of actions under each of JFF’s drivers of quality jobs?
At JFF, we’ve identified four key drivers of progress toward our North Star goal of seeing 75 million Americans facing barriers to economic advancement in quality jobs by 2033:
- Create: Driving the creation of more quality jobs.
- Prepare: Ensuring that people are prepared for quality jobs.
- Obtain: Ensuring that people can obtain quality jobs.
- Mobilize: Mobilizing America to our vision and catalyzing action.
Here are examples of various types of organizations taking actions that embody each driver:
Create:
- Private-sector employers that pay their frontline workers fair wages and support economic development efforts that expand the number of quality jobs in their communities.
Prepare:
- Boot camps or postsecondary education institutions that help young people build in-demand skills that prepare them for well-paid jobs with advancement opportunities.
Obtain:
- Community-based organizations that connect young people ages 16 to 24 to jobs in fields that offer opportunities for economic advancement.
- Developers of tech platforms that assess people’s strengths and interests and connect them with potential opportunities in fields that offer quality jobs.
Mobilize:
- Policy and advocacy organizations that build coalitions to support benefits like paid parental leave.
- Philanthropists that convene their grantees to discuss innovative ways to broaden talent pipelines.
What are examples of what might count as the number of people my organization or team is supporting to be in quality jobs?
- The number of people your organization or team served who engaged in or completed skills-based learning to prepare for a quality job.
- The number of people who engaged in or completed an apprenticeship or another type of work-based learning program to prepare for a quality job.
- The number of people hired into a quality job or a job with some of the features of a quality job.
