Our national survey of more than 3,000 workers and learners reveals a “messy middle” moment in AI adoption, marked by fragmented attitudes, uneven use, and limited employer training and guidance. The bottom line: realizing AI’s promise will require employers, educators, and policymakers to provide clearer pathways for people to build AI skills.

Harnessing the power and potential of AI to drive economic advancement for all.

The explosive growth of artificial intelligence is reshaping job creation, hiring practices, market dynamics, skills development, and economic mobility. We believe that these changes should drive economic success and quality jobs for all.
Current shifts create both opportunity and risk. While AI may support productivity and innovation, a 2023 Goldman Sachs report estimated that generative AI could automate nearly 300 million jobs globally. In 2025, McKinsey estimated that it could automate more than half of the hours worked in the U.S. economy.
The Center for Artificial Intelligence & the Future of Work convenes stakeholders across sectors to help institutions build the capacity to adapt. Through research, convenings, and applied experimentation, the center brings cross-sector leaders together to address structural challenges, and tracks emerging AI trends to translate insight into action.

CALL TO ACTION & SURVEY
AI for Economic Opportunity and Advancement
Artificial intelligence is transforming our world—but will it make us all better off? Our call to action urges stakeholders across sectors to investigate how AI could lead to higher-quality jobs, catalyze wealth-building, and promote economic opportunity—for all of us. To ground this work, we commissioned a survey to shed light on how U.S. workers and learners perceive, use, and experience AI.

Report
The AI-Ready Workforce Report
Our report offers three new resources—a framework model, industry-specific profiles, and a readiness blueprint—to anticipate coming shifts across industries and occupations, and help workers, institutions, and ecosystems prepare for AI’s impact on jobs. The bottom line: every occupation will benefit by doubling down on the uniquely human interpersonal skills that will be elevated or augmented by AI.

TOOL
Use Cases for Generative AI in Workforce Development
Interest in AI is soaring, but how can workforce practitioners leverage this technology to support people in their searches for quality jobs? This report provides frameworks for practitioners and organizations to use in identifying ways to integrate AI into their work, as well as maps the landscape of tools that exist to support these use cases.
