Using Data to Support Systems Change
Fair Chance to Advance is built on the idea that lasting change happens when systems work together, community voices are heard, and data is used effectively.
State Action Networks: Integrated Data and Data-Informed Decision-Making
JFF has partnered with Coleridge, a nonprofit with deep experience working with state agencies to help them collect and use data more effectively. Through this partnership, state action networks receive hands-on support to integrate data from disparate postsecondary education, corrections, and workforce systems.
The state networks compile the data they collect into dashboards that help them track progress, make informed decisions, and build long-term strategies for collaboration and learning—so that education and employment pathways lead to real opportunity.
State Action Networks: Documenting Lessons Learned
JFF has also partnered with Mathematica, a mission-driven research and data analytics firm dedicated to improving public well-being by helping states improve their data infrastructure to support the design of evidence-based policies that improve outcomes. Mathematica will help us document lessons learned across the state action networks and share insights with the field.
Specifically, Mathematica will conduct both a developmental evaluation to support continuous improvement learning cycles and an ecosystem change evaluation to assess each state’s progress in strengthening systems alignment, integrating and using state agency data, sustaining momentum in policy and practice change and collaboration, and understanding the role of intermediaries in establishing and scaling state-based networks to drive cross-systems change.
