Learn how to complete the Standards of Apprenticeship in registering your apprenticeship program with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) or a federally recognized State Apprenticeship Agency (SAA) in this self-paced, online training course.

This course is led by Laury Ferguson, an associate director of Apprenticeship at the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) and Mark Genua, an associate director in JFF’s Center for Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning.

Course Overview

Gain a comprehensive understanding of how to complete each section of the Standards of Apprenticeship as part of the registration process. This course will guide you through a checklist of program decisions that need to be made to complete the registration documents, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to complete each section of the standards of apprenticeship with real-world examples.

Why is this Course Important

To receive Registered Apprenticeship program status, a sponsor must complete and submit their Standards of Apprenticeship for approval. These Standards inform how a sponsor will operate their program and train their apprentices.

Who Should Take this Course

  • Employers and organizations including educational institutions, community-based organizations, trade associations, and others, who want to become a program sponsor and register their apprenticeship program with DOL or an SAA.
  • Intermediaries who want to help employers and organizations become program sponsors and assist in the registration of their apprenticeship program with DOL or an SAA.
