JFF CEO Maria Flynn in “Post-Pandemic Job Training Offers Chance for Bipartisan Deal”

JFF CEO Maria Flynn was quoted in a Bloomberg Government article regarding the likelihood that Congress will reach a bipartisan deal on a measure to beef up job training programs for Americans who are out of work because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Flynn said that a reauthorization of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act would give policymakers a chance to rethink how federal support for workers operates, but she noted that that option doesn’t appear to be on the table.

Regarding the moves Congress is—or isn’t—likely to take, she said, “It’s kicking the can down the road a bit in terms of looking at more structural questions.”
