Pillar 2: Revitalize Regional Economies

For states to achieve equitable economic recoveries, they must focus on inequalities that put a strain on the health and competitiveness of local communities and regional economies. This strain is particularly acute in areas affected by departures of major employers, high unemployment, and population loss. These state policy briefs examine four strategies for taking an inclusive approach to building vibrant economies in all communities and creating opportunities for advancement that are accessible to everyone, particularly members of historically underserved populations. Other briefs in JFF’s State Policy Road Map for an Equitable Economic Recovery focus on helping all people rebound and advance and redesigning education and workforce development systems.
