JFF’s Kyle Hartung in “How Virtual Learning Is Falling Short on Preparing Students for Future Careers”

JFF Associate Vice President Kyle Hartung was recently quoted in an Education Week article that addressed the question of whether schools are preparing K-12 students for the digital workplaces that are likely to be common in the future.

Part of a special report about equity and the future of work, the article noted that some people might assume that the pivot to online learning that many schools have made during the pandemic would help get students ready for careers that include a significant amount of remote work.

But Hartung and other experts said that may not be the case.

“I don’t think it’s going to help much,” Hartung told Education Week. “There was no systematic or pedagogical approach for learning remotely.”
