  1. Eligible entrants are those who are currently participating in, or have completed in the past 12 months, a Registered Apprenticeship program in the United States and are between the ages of 16 and 21 at the time of submission.
  2. Each entry must be submitted as a digital video in mp4 format. To enter: (1) Entry must be submitted via this Dropbox link and include: (a) 1 video in mp4 format that is the name of the lead producer's first and last name (ex. edsheeran.mp4); and (b) Media releases for all individuals who appear in the video; and (2) The official entry form must be submitted in its entirety.
  3. Entries may be submitted starting on February 3, 2020. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
  4. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.
  5. Youth apprentices may work together in groups or submit entries as individuals. However, each video must have only one Lead Producer to serve as the main point of contact and prize recipient. Recognition will be given to the Lead Producer in addition to all listed as co-producers on the entry form.
  6. A youth apprentice can only be the Lead Producer in one video.
  7. The length of the video should not exceed 60 seconds (one minute).
  8. There is no entry fee.
  9. No copyrighted materials (music, images, etc.) may be used for this contest unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for this contest. You must obtain written permission for all copyrighted materials and provide it upon request.
  10. All entries must be submitted in English; if entries are not in English, they must include English subtitles.
  11. No professional assistance is allowed.
  12. If chosen as a top 3 finalist, you must submit a signed/completed W9 form to receive your prize winnings.
  13. Content must not 1) promote illegal behavior; 2) support racial, religious, sexual, or other prejudice; 3) advocate sexual or violent exploitation; 4) violate rights established by law or agreement; 5) invade the privacy of any person; or 6) be otherwise inappropriate as determined by JFF in its sole and conclusive determination.
  14. The judges’ decision is final and is based on the Judging Rubric.
  15. The only compensation for submitting a video is the opportunity to be awarded a prize if the entry wins. JFF will pay filmmakers no additional compensation nor be liable to the filmmaker under any circumstances.
  16. Awards will be presented to the Lead Producers as follows: (1) One First Place: $1,000; (2) One Second Place: $500; and (3) One Third Place: $250.
  17. The lead producer of the first place video will be invited to attend the public announcement and showing of the video at JFF's Horizons event in New Orleans on June 10, 2020, with a friend or family member. Travel and lodging will be paid for by JFF. Any friend or family member must be over the age of 18. If the lead producer is under the age of 18, they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  18. Entrants should retain copies of their videos. JFF is not responsible for any videos that are lost or damaged or do not upload properly.
  19. Ownership of the underlying intellectual property of the project remains with the entrant, with the following exceptions: (1) Entrants grant JFF the right to use their names, photographs, statements, quotes, testimonials, and video submissions for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without notification or further compensation; (2) Entrants also grant JFF the right to use, reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, and/or display the entrant's project video without further compensation or notification to the entrant; and (3) JFF maintains the right to reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, display, or exhibit the project for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes on its website, at conferences, or at any other venues.
  20. By accepting the prizes, winners agree to hold JFF, JFF employees, and contest judges harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of use of such prizes. Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused from participation in the contest or use/redemption of any prize.
  21. Entrants agree to be bound by the official contest rules and decisions of the judges.
