JFF’s Eric Seleznow in “Walsh Lonely at Top Without Deputies to Advance Labor Agenda”
JFF Senior Advisor Eric Seleznow was quoted in a recent Bloomberg Law article discussing the fact that the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) lacks a single Senate-confirmed leader other than Labor Secretary Marty Walsh.
The article noted that the Biden administration has appointed several experienced people to “acting” leadership roles at the DOL, but added that Walsh needs a full complement of Senate-confirmed leaders to push a policy agenda that includes measures designed to support the post-pandemic workforce.
Seleznow told Bloomberg Law that Walsh’s arrival in March helped the department sharpen its focus on job training and worker safety. However, the secretary will need full-time support to advance a four-year policy vision.
“You’ve just got to get the team in place, especially in this economy—there’s no time to waste,” said Seleznow.
