Sonali Kothari is the chief operating officer of JFFLabs, an organization that JFF launched in 2018 to provide a critical connection between traditional workforce and education systems and new technologies, financial models, and forward-leaning leaders.
She joined JFF to help get JFFLabs off the ground and played an instrumental role in bringing the organizational concept to life, planning strategies for engaging new audiences, and supporting the kickoffs of early initiatives like the JFFLabs Work-Based Learning Acceleration Cohort.
Today, she leads the implementation of the JFFLabs strategic vision and provides day-to-day leadership and direction, working closely with a passionate team to establish new ways of creating impact to drive JFF’s mission of economic advancement for all.

Before joining JFF, Sonali worked at Kiva, a nonprofit social impact microfinance organization that has provided more than $1 billion of working capital to 2.4 million students, farmers, and entrepreneurs from underserved populations. She had various roles during her tenure at Kiva, serving as head of product, leading strategy and human resources functions, and ultimately serving as COO.
Reflecting on her decision to join JFF, Sonali says, “people, dreams, and equal opportunity” brought her to the organization. “The excitement builds,” she says, “because I share CEO Maria Flynn’s conviction that JFF can have an even greater impact in the years to come.”
Sonali lives in San Francisco and works out of JFF’s Oakland office. Her activities outside of work include playing pool in a league every Monday.
