Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
At JFF, we build diverse teams that represent the communities we serve and create equitable internal career pathways for staff that represent our field’s best practices. We cultivate a culture of inclusion that fosters psychological safety and connection, and recognizes diversity along multiple dimensions, including race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin, socioeconomic status, religion, ability, beliefs, and lived experience. We center well-being in our work because balance and care support the impact and transformation we drive.
JFF invests in affinity-based employee resource groups (ERGs) that offer community, connection, and opportunities for shared growth and learning. Our equity-focused approach prioritizes communities that have faced long-standing oppression and compensates our volunteer ERG leaders financially in recognition of their important contributions.
JFF provides professional development, including tuition remission, for employees that increases their knowledge of DEI topics. JFF also invests in training and learning on DEI principles, like racial and gender equity, that are foundational to how we work and our organization’s success.
JFF engages the entire organization in its diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practice, knowing that community efforts and diverse perspectives result in the most impactful and transformative initiatives. Sponsored by our CEO, the DEI Advisory Committee is a representative group of staff from multiple departments, lived experiences, and seniority levels. This group’s unique point of view, combined with their extensive expertise and passion, helps shape internal policies and initiatives, ensuring staff voice is central to the work.
