Melba Abreu leads JFF’s fiscal and administrative operations.

Mrs. Abreu came to JFF from Harvard University, where she was a senior financial officer for over nine years. As senior analyst, Mrs. Abreu was a key player in the university’s salary-certification system, and was in charge of the university’s Annual Sponsored Research Financial Report, covering a $500 million sponsored-account portfolio. 

Mrs. Abreu has also served as director of finance and technology at Harvard’s David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. She led the development of two core departments, the implementation of remote-access systems, and the implementation of teleconferencing systems and financial operations for the unit’s international office in Santiago de Chile. 

Mrs. Abreu was also a senior analyst and financial consultant in Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, where she led the development and implementation of a schoolwide budget management system, procedural development, standards, and training.

Mrs. Abreu received her degree in accounting and finance at the Instituto de Economia in Matanzas, Cuba, and has completed extensive coursework in computer science, information technology, and financial management at Harvard University.
