Reinventing Alternative Education Map Tool

JFF has identified seven model policy elements that define a new alternative education policy set. The elements are based on the most recent research and expert thinking in the field, as well as JFF's research for this report and our on-the-ground experience with effective alternative education policies and programs. The Alternative Education Map tool shows the extent to which each state has put these model policies in place. Additional State Profile pages provides more detail for states where at least one model policy element is in place.

Dropout policies are not included in this research. JFF performed a separate, 50-state analysis examining how well states enable and encourage the dropout prevention and the recovery of those who have already dropped out of high school.
