Literature Review: Models for Developmental Education Redesign

In 2013, the Florida Legislature passed Senate Bill 1720, which called for all developmental education offered in the state to be accelerated, using one or more of the following instructional strategies: co-requisite, modularization, compression, or contextualization. This literature review provides information and examples related to the four mandated, accelerated models, as well as an example of an integrated model, to help colleges consider the best available evidence about each approach. It includes a matrix that provides comparable, side-by-side information highlighting the latest evidence on approaches to accelerated developmental education.
