Jobs for the Future/Aspen Institute Opportunity Youth Incentive Fund Social Innovation Fund Project
Notice of Funding Opportunity
Jobs for the Future, in partnership with the Aspen Institute, has received funding from the Social Innovation Fund to help communities, using a collective impact approach, to improve outcomes for opportunity youth, defined as those age 16-24 who are disconnected from school and work. In each community, JFF and Aspen are targeting high-performing nonprofit organizations with significant numbers of low-income youth that serve as the “backbone” organization for a cross-sector community collaborative. This social innovation strategy will deeply engage local civic, community, and institutional leaders, private and public funders, opportunity youth themselves—and the organizations and systems that work most closely with them—in supporting the development of pathways that dramatically improve education and employment outcomes for this vastly underserved population.
Communities that currently have a structured collaborative of key stakeholders organized to improve outcomes for opportunity youth are encourage to apply for funding. Potential applicants must submit a Letter of Intent, due to JFF by November 7, 2014 (but please apply early). Read the full details on the Letters of Intent and full application process. Letters of Intent must include.
- Name of the backbone organization submitting the Letter of Intent
- 3-4 data points that demonstrate that the community is low-income
- List of members of the collaborative
- 2-3 examples of efforts undertaken by the collaborative in the last year to improve education/career outcomes specifically for opportunity youth
