As a senior program manager in JFF’s Building Economic Opportunity Group, Nneka Jenkins Thompson provides project management and technical support on national apprenticeship expansion initiatives.
Ms. Jenkins Thompson is a seasoned workforce development professional working on behalf of the growing number of nontraditional students and the hardest to employ youth and adults. Before joining JFF, Ms. Jenkins Thompson worked on several policy programs within national think tanks. She directed initiatives that improved partnerships between employers and community colleges at the Aspen Institute. At New America, Ms. Jenkins Thompson oversaw the research and strategic communications for a program dedicated to building alternative education and training pathways that would lead to good jobs without having to pass through traditional higher education systems.
Her background in the nonprofit and public sectors also includes grantmaking, program design, and direct service at Commonwealth Corporation, More than Words Bookstore, and Dress for Success Boston. Ms. Jenkins Thompson’s diverse professional history also includes a corporate Planning and Merchandising career with the international Fortune 500 retailer, TJX Companies.
Ms. Jenkins Thompson has an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth where she graduated magna cum laude. She was also selected as one of 3 National Association of Charter School Authorizer Fellows upon graduation from the Kennedy School.
